In 2001, Taney County leaped from a third class county to a first class county. What that meant to the residents is money for better roads, more infrastructure, and better services. A joint effort between the City of Hollister, the county, and Missouri Department of Transportation widened and improved Hwy 65, from Hollister, past Branson Creek to the Arkansas state line. Now, area infrastructure improvements are always ongoing.
